Of unexpected plastic surgery interest, this book includes an early English disscussion of rhinoplasty.

 

Modern quarter brown leather with red spine label and marbled paper over boards. A few small linear scuffs and creases as joints. New end papers. First and last few leaves affected by damp stain (mostly limited to blanks), but rest of text block strikingly clean and bright with well-retained margins. Binding tight throughout.

Laurence Sterne (1713 - 1768) was a novelist and Anglican cleric. Living in a military family he travels throughout England and Ireland. After his death, his body was allegedly dug up and sold to Cambridge anatomists.
