New full brown leather with gold text, embellishments, and raised bands on spine. New end papers. N3-6 trimmed and ragged at fore edge with loss of text. Ends in Hebrews chapter 13. Old Testament commentary complete. Incomplete New Testament commentary, with 388 (of 486?) pages. Binding tight. Pages variably, but mostly very mildly, toned.

 

Jean Diodati (1576 – 1649) was a Genevan Ecclesiastic and translator (of the bible into Italian and French). “Under the influence of Theodore de Beze, he was a gifted linguist and became a doctor of theology at the age of nineteen and professor of Hebrew at twenty.” He represented the Genevan church at eh Synod of Dordrecht in 1618-1619.
