A Course of Chirurgical Operations, Demonstrated in the Royal Garden at Paris. By Monsieur Dionis, Chief Chirurgeon to the late Dauphiness, and to the present Dutchess of Burgundy. Translated from the Paris edition. The second edition. London, 1733. 8vo in full brown calf 20th century rebind with two red title and author name plates on spine as well as five raised bands. Original end papers with repaired internal hinges. Front fly leaf slightly stained and torn across top edge. Library markings on title page and its (blank) verso, as well as verso of plates. Numerous plates and in-text figures (predominately of surgical instruments). A clean, bright, and tight rebound copy in very good condition. First French edition was 1707, Garrison Morton 5575. Pierrie Dionis (1643? To 1718) was himself apparently not a very innovative surgeon, however his textbook (in French and English) was extremely popular.
