Signed A. A. Hodge D. D. at top of half title. A note in a different hand is inscribed under the signature memorializing that the book was given to Hodge by his friend the Hon. Thos. Marshall in Spring of 1876. 
 
Olive drab buckram with gold text on spine. Later end papers. Prior dealer not on ffep. Ink stamp (library number?) on verso of last page. Corners of prelims a bit ragged, but otherwise very good interior with just a bit of toning.

This work was first published in three volumes from 1842 – 1853. Simon Greenleaf (December 5, 1783 – October 6, 1853) was a professor at Harvard Law School. 
Archibald Alexander Hodge (July 18, 1823 – November 12, 1886) was the principal of Princeton Seminary (1878-1886) and a Presbyterian Minister. He is a son of Charles Hodge (December 27, 1797 – June 19, 1878) who was Principal of Princeton Seminary from 1851 – 1878.
