Two quarto volumes in quarter brown leather with marbled paper over boards. Red title plates on spines. Spines a bit scuffed. New end papers. Private ownership stamp at bottom of title pages. Unadorned book plates on front pastedowns. Clean, bright, and tight throughout both volumes, with minimal foxing. Errata at end of vol 2. A very good copy. Garrison-Morton 5789.
Albrecht von Haller was a Swiss polymath, professor, physician, scientist, and poet who compiled four bibliographies on botany, surgery, medicine, and anatomy. Together they formed the most complete reference work of the time. His personal library of 15,000 volumes and 145 manuscripts sold in 1778 and was donated to the national library in Milan.
