Hancock, Jiu-Jitsu Combat Tricks, 1904

Jiu-Jitsu Combat Tricks, Japanese Feats of Attack and Defense in Personal Encounter. By H. Irving Hancock. Author of “Physical Training for Women by Japanese Methods,” “Physical Culture Life,” “Life at West Point,” etc. Illustrated with Thirty-two Photographs Taken from Life by A. B. Phelan and Others. G. P. Putnam’s Sons, New York and London, The Knickerbocker Press. Copyright 1904.

Light brown publisher’s cloth with black title on front board and spine. Corners minimally bumped. Small faint stain on external front hinge. 1919 owner’s name on ffep. Interior clean and bright, mostly tight, though a few leaves feel like they may be starting a bit. Overall a very good copy.

Chapter 12 includes a humorous description of how to disable your neighborhood police officer with his own baton still attached to his belt—but only do this if he has a good sense of humor!
