Original full brown leather boards, recently respined with red and black labels and gold text on spine. Boards a bit scuffed. Corners a bit bumped. Ex libris copy (Andrew B. Brumbaugh, M. D. book plate on front paste down; half title stamped H. A. Dorsey). Minimal toning and foxing. Clean and tight throughout. Numerous in-text figures.

Thomas Dent Mutter (1811 – 1859) donated a massive collection of medical specimens to the College of Physicians of Philadelphia with stipulations for a curator and building to be established and maintained. The original building for the now-famous Mutter Museum was finished in 1863. It still draws visitors from around the world to this day.
