Red blind-stamped cloth over board, newly respined. Scattered stains on boards (greater on front board). Yellow original end papers with stains. Leaves untrimmed. Fore-edges a little bumped in places. Text block clean, bright, and tight throughout. Complete. Illustrated with numerous black & white anatomical and surgical figures. Measures approximately 6 ¾ x 4 ½ x 1 ½ inches. Garrison-Morton 5591 is first edition (French).

The first English edition of this popular textbook from French surgeon Joseph Francois Malgaigne. He was a popular lecturer and historian of medieval surgery. He also published an updated set of the works of Ambroise Pare.
