Folio in early full brown leather with repairs. Scuffed. Raised bands on spine. New end papers. Blanks a bit tatttered and grubby. Title page of NT creased. Prior owner's inscriptions in ink and pencil on NT title page and front and rear end papers. Damp stain affecting OT title page, torah (involving text) and gospels (marginal). Top edge trimmed just into running titles in a few places, but mostly still wide of text. Some underlining in gospels. Sparse marginalia, in multiple languages, mostly in OT. Decorative end papers. Mild toning and rare stains. Binding tight. 1 inch marginal tear of Q3 in NT.

Reprinted from the final volume of the Plantin (Antwerp) Polyglot Bible (Biblia Regia of 1568 - 1573) supervised by Benedictus Arias Montanus. The original Plantin Polyglot made an interesting textual emendation in the protoeuangelion (Gen 3:15) by back translating the Hebrew to conform to the Latin text (thus rendering it "...she shall crush..." Rather than "he shall"). This printing restores the Hebrew reading to the masculine pronoun "he" rather than "she."
