Uncut quarto in original, ornately gilt, vellum with original ribbon ties. Slight scattered soiling on boards and spine. Slight splay. Front hinge cracking but joints completely intact. End papers browned. 1946 owner's inscription on ffep. tipped-in color frontispiece and 27 color plates with captioned guards, plus additional monochromatic illustrations by Edmund Dulac. Scattered minute stains, but overall very bright. Impressive margins. 
Edmund Dulac (born Edmond; October 22, 1882 – May, 25 1953) was a French-British illustrator. His illustrations of Poe's poems are now legendary.
