Police of the Metropolis, 1819

Report from the Committee on the State of the Police of the Metropolis: with the Minutes of Evidence Taken Before the Committee: and an Appendix of Sundry Papers. [Communicated by the Commons to the Lords.] Ordered to be printed 24th March 1819.

Folio in original blue paper wraps with later spine and repair to foredge of front cover. A few small faint stains on front cover. Top and bottom a bit tattered and rear corners folded. Original end sheets pasted down to wraps. Blue ink writing (20th century hand) at bottom of front cover. Small pencil notation on rear end paper. Otherwise, unmarked. Clean, bright, and tight throughout.

Appears to be a reprint from an 1816 edition, as all reports concern matters from 1816 or earlier. The only 1816 printing of similar title we are familiar with was Clement’s and was issued in octavo, rather than folio.
