Thomas Scott (1747–1821) wrote one of the most popular and useful Bible commentaries of the 18th century. He was an Anglican preacher, author, and founder of the Church Mission Society, as well as a friend and correspondent of John Newton (of Amazing Grace hymnody fame). Scott’s commentary began to be published serially in 1788, and the collected editions (typically issued in six volumes) were reprinted many times on both sides of the Atlantic. The set we offer here, being a London imprint, is somewhat more luxurious than most of the American editions, as it is larger, bound more attractively, and includes maps.
