1604 reduced folio printing of Vesaliu's On the Fabric of the Human Body (with, as an appendix, Fabius Paulinus's tables of Rufus of Ephesus' anatomy), BOUND WITH a 1683 Italian edition of Fabricius' Operative Surgery, which also includes Severino's Compendium of Surgery.
The 1604 printing of Vesalius' De Humani Corporis Fabrica is nearly an exact reprint of Francesco Senense's 1568 edition, which used blocks engraved by Johannes Criegher (scaled down to approximately two thirds the size of the blocks used for the 1555 edition). Cushing states that "Fabricius of Acquapendente was by now professor of anatomy at Padua, and it was in all likelihood the student text he recommended." (Bio-Bibliography of Andreas Vesalius, pg 93).
Hieronymus Fabricius ab Aquapendente (ca. 1533-1619) was, per Heirs 365, "One of the great Paduan anatomists and teachers, pupil of Fallopius, teacher of Harvey, and friend of Galileo, Fabricius built at his own expense the anatomical theater at Padua, which is still preserved intact. During his long life, he produced a number of important works on anatomy, embryology, and physiology, characterized by numerous large, clear copperplate illustrations which long remained unexcelled." His Opera Chirurgica was first printed in 1617, was reprinted into the 18th century, and was translated into many languages.
