Two tall octavo volumes in quarter green cloth with brown paper over boards. Red leather title labels on spines. Mold wear to boards and cloth. Corners a bit bumped. Small stain on rear board of vol II. Ink stamp “R. Hull” on ffep of vol I. Prior dealer notes on each ffep and front paste down of vol I. Clean, bright, and tight throughout.

 

Vol 1: Ffep, blank, half title, title – xxxi, 175, blank, rfep. With 9 plates (8 in color).

Total of 18 plates; the last plate in each volume in black and white; all others in color.

 

See G-M 5840 for the first edition of 1808/18: James Wardrop (1782-1869). “Wardrop was the first to classify the various inflammations of the eye according to the structures attacked. He was also the first to use the term “keratitis.” He also authored a book on bloodletting.
