Wylie, Scenes from the Bible (?1844?)

Scenes from the Bible. By the Rev. J. A. Wylie, A.M., Author of 'The Modern Judea, Amon, Moab, and Edom, Compared with Ancient Prophecy, Etc.' Published by William Collins, South Frederick Street, Glasgow, Paternoster Row, London. 
 
Undated, but we find a copy listed as 1844. 
 
Small octavo in contemporary full brown leather. Boards ruled in gilt and in blind. Gilt fleurons on spine. Boards with scattered scuffs and scratches. Corners bumped. Marbled page edges and end papers. Front hinge cracked (joint intact). Mild toning. Prior owner's signature (James Duncan) on front blank. Rare pencil annotation. Blanks at front and rear have several drawn portraits in various stages of completion (apparently by Duncan). Frontis of Wylie with printed inscription and tissue guard. Binding tight. 
 
Author appears to be James Aitken Wylie (August 9th, 1808 – May 1st, 1890), whose History of Protestantism was still in print as recently as 2018.
