Original brown tree calf over boards, recently rebacked with red title label and gold bands on spine. Slight erosión to text block near top off ore-edge. Book plate of William B. Casey on front paste down. End papers and title page toned at edges. Texblock slightly toned and foxed.

 

John Thomson (1765–1846) was president of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and was considered “the most learned physician in Scotland” in his day (Dictionary of National Biography).

 

First American Edition. Title page reads 1817 but dedication from author is dated 1818.
