Heirs 666: “Guichard Joseph Du Verney (1648-1730): After Du Verney's death one of his devoted pupils, Senac, arranged to have the Duc d'Orleans purchase his papers and manuscripts. Senac ensured that they were published and they appeared as Oeuvres anatomiques (Paris, 1761) and the present work. In addition to the "Eloge de M. Du Verney" in Volume I, the work contains Du Verney's writings on the diagnosis and treatment of fractures, dislocations, and bone diseases. He gave excellent descriptions of the pathology of rickets and an early description of osteoporosis. His account of the isolated fracture of the wing of the ilium, Du Verney's fracture, is also found in this work.”

See also Heirs 664: “Du Verney received his medical degree from Avignon in 1667 and came immediately to Paris where he was to find his greatest opportunities in investigation and teaching. He soon became a successful anatomical lecturer and demonstrator and in 1679 was appointed professor of anatomy and surgery at the Jardin du Roi. He was very active in anatomical research and was an excellent teacher, attracting large numbers of students to his lectures and demonstrations.”

See also Heirs 823: Jean Baptiste Senac (1693-1770) “A Jesuit priest, Sénac studied medicine at Rheims and was later appointed physician to Louis XV. He also served as councillor of state and eventually became a member of the Académie Royale des Sciences.”
