Richard Baxter (1615-1691) was heavily influenced in his youth by reading the works of William Perkins, and later, Richard Sibbs. He was ordained at the age of 23. Early on, he mostly favored conformity and opposed the seperatists, but in 1662 he was ejected from the Church of England by the Act of Uniformity. But in 1689 he benefited from the Toleration Act. His famous book The Saint’s Everlasting Rest has never been out of print. His writings are a mix of Calvinism and Arminianism. (Beeke)
